Sharing Treasures
Providing Hope

Looking for a rewarding experience without the everyday distractions? What you will receive is the warm smile of gratitude. Nothing more, nothing less. Genuine gratitude for the simplest of gifts which we here in America take for granted. This act of kindness will touch your heart and give you a sense of pure satisfaction. Some call it recharging your batteries we call it a mental health day. Please read the following information regarding our medical mission in October to Bosnia and sincerely hope you will join us in providing hope to those less fortunate.

His Work In Progress (HWIP) is a 501 c 3 humanitarian non-profit all volunteer organization that has been providing aid to the sick and orphaned for nearly three years! So much more is needed. Today, in one small area alone there are five hundred people still living in boxcars. Their daily bread is literally one bowl of soup and a piece of bread.

Father Svetozar Kraljevic stated, “I believe that God in HIS provincial way will send HIS angels, I believe that HIS WORK IN PROGRESS are those angels!”

HWIP angels are actively collecting funds to ship the much needed hospital supplies, medicines and medical equipment for an October 18 Medical Mission called “Medjugorje, Mostar and Beyond”. Medical personnel from across the country will begin the first of what we believe is the beginning of many larger medical missions, healing the sick and providing hope. We will not stop in October; we will be back, because they desperately need our help. Want to join or assist in our efforts?

Angels have varying roles and responsibilities. Want to be an angel? Simply reach out and touch a needy soul who may have lost hope. Reach out through HWIP. Please pray for our mission!

This medical mission will be visiting Siroki Brijeg, Mostar hospital and clinic, Capljina, Grude and Medjugorje.
It has been two and a half years since His Work in Progress, a 501(c)3 humanitarian aid organization, began helping the sick and orphaned in Bosnia Herzegovina. Many of the effects from years of devastating war are still very prominent today among the poor and needy. HWIP has helped by identifying medical equipment needs and fulfilling those requests. However, current medical needs still far exceed the current availability of medical support in Bosnia...and HWIP plans to meet some of those needs.

HWIP is currently planning "Medical Mission-Medjugorje, Mostar, and Beyond". Thanks to the efforts of many individuals, information about current medical needs and the planning for this project are underway! Dr. Stela Pavic, our physician liaison for Mostar, is in contact with key individuals at the Mostar Hospital and surrounding areas, and is instrumental in assisting HWIP to identify areas of concern. Dr. Bob Keene HWIP Medical Director and Dr. Dan Pisano HWIP Executive Vice President are working hard to ensure this projects success. Our goals are to deliver medical supplies to the Mostar Hospital and other facilities where supplies are difficult to obtain, giving direct care to those in need (in Mostar and surrounding areas) and networking with Bosnian physicians and nurses to share updated knowledge and resources. We know there is a huge void in the availability of medical care and access to medications, as verified during a recent fact-finding trip to Mostar and Medjugorje by a Registered Nurse from Ohio.

Imagine for a moment this scenario...only 1 hospital 90 miles away...there is no superhighway to ease and speed your drive to state of the art medical care. Upon your admission to the hospital, you are assigned a bed in a hallway, with the next bed only a foot or two away...men and women together, old and young alike. There are no curtains to separate you from your neighbor, no screens, no privacy. Supplies are short, so your family must bring you juices and meals to eat and drink. They must also bring you toilet paper. If the hospital does not have the medication you need, your family must go out and buy it, if available. "Disposable" supplies such as gloves and urine collection bags are washed and re-used. There simply are not enough disposables to go around. Unthinkable?? In the US, yes; but it is a reality at Mostar Hospital.

Then there are those who are too poor to access ANY medical care OR transportation, adequate housing, food, clothing, or money for medications. Some of these people, even 8 years after the war's end, still live in boxcars, and are battling psychological trauma and abandonment. Fortunately, there are advocates for these people. Fr. Jozo of Siroki Brieg and Fr. Svet of Medjugorje know who they are and what they need. HWIP volunteers will try to alleviate some of the sufferings of these poor souls by supplementing the already Herculean efforts of these two dedicated, self-less priests and the other overworked religious in the area.

This only begins to describe the plight of the poorest of the poor in Bosnia Herzegovina. We at HWIP call it "Flying Below the World's Radar". The problems exist, but they are no longer "news" in today's headlines...so if we do not know about them, they do not exist...right? The competition for headlines in today's media means airing issues that stir controversy, sensationalism, separatism, and dissent. The plights of the people devastated by war's destruction are forgotten.

We beg to differ...we want to change the headlines! HWIP wants to make a difference in the lives of these forgotten people...and we need YOUR help. Medical professionals and their knowledge are in great need in BiH. So what can you do? Let your colleagues know about this mission. Let them know they can make a difference. Let other medical professionals know they can help fulfill a great and pressing need. How? Join us for a week or two to deliver medical supplies, give direct care, and share medical knowledge with Bosnian physicians and nurses. Pray for the success of the mission. Make people aware of this need. Tell them how they can help a soul today. But must of all, by CARING...CARING about the people, their needs, their lack and their lives.

Please...join us in Sharing Treasures and Providing Hope!
