Home for Christmas

128 families totaling 600 refugees living in sub human conditions.

Hello I am Walt Miller of His Work in Progress and I want to share with you the plight of a people driven from their homes during the Bosnian war. Even today eight years after the war people are afraid to go back to their shattered homes which were bombed, burned or totally destroyed. Back home where dreadful memories still linger of the atrocities which occurred to them as fleeing victims or prisoners of war. They feel safe here in a far away camp but they are also depressed because of the lack of work throughout the country and their present deplorable living conditions.

They are forgotten. Families of eight to ten living in an overcrowded tin hut the size of a one car garage. They must endure the elements as they share a bathroom down the street with fifty other people.

We call it “Flying Below the Worlds Radar” because the world does not know they exist.

We know, and now you know. We are going to do something about this situation for these refugees, how about you? Can we count on you?

HWIP has created a new project called “Home for Christmas”.
We want to Provide Hope by Sharing Treasures. Costs are small compared to building a home in the US for a modest living space. A one story home can be provided for about $20,000. We can do this but we need your help. We need responsible people like you in each state to tell the story so that funds will be forthcoming to help these forgotten people.

Members of our medical group stated they were sick of eating chicken soup everyday and this is after one week. The refugees live on a bowl of soup a day. We saw some families turned away, without food. However, if they had a home we could provide chickens and a cow to help them be self sufficient and to improve their life style.
These refugees have eaten like this for years. Imagine how they feel? We can turn their life around. We can do this, let us start today.

If we do not help, if we forget about them like the rest of the world, life for these people will be exactly like the words in the song; I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams.

They dream of days gone by when times were better, they dream of a home and of starting over in peace.

So in the spirit of giving let us give someone a home. If not this Christmas then next because there are many, many homes that need to be built. There are many dreams to be fulfilled.

HWIP is working with another organization which is currently project managing the home building process and overseeing the financial integrity and timeliness of the few homes that are being built.

HWIP thanks you in advance. “No amount is too small and no amount is too great” as my friend Jim Manfredonia would say.

"Flying Below the Worlds Radar” because the world does not know they exist anymore.

Fr. Svet the local priest in Bosnia stated, "I believe that God in HIS providential way will send HIS angels. I believe that HIS Work in Progress are those angels". Be an angel won't you? You too can be an angel. Earn your feather today for helping these forgotten people through providing a “Home for Christmas” and bring dignity back into their lives.
Thank you so much!
