Operation Hope
Kick-off Date

Details
Operation Hope currently has identified two families in need of your help.

Tuberculosis is a disease that appears to be affecting a higher percentage of the population of Bosnia since the war. Such is the case in the Zrnic family. The father’s name is Zeljko and he heads this family of seven with children ages 15,13,10,7 while living on 200.00 Marks a month.

Up until early February, the family did not have a bathroom in their apartment, which was eventually acquired through a donation. All four children sleep in one small bedroom, Mr. Zeljko Zrnic and his wife sleep in the living room, and Mr.Zrnic's blind brother sleeps in the kitchen. Seven people live in a basement apartment designed for no more than four people. This family of seven living in one of the poorest towns in Bosnia called Zenica living on 200 Marks a month with a father who has Tuberculosis cannot survive without help. Mr Zrnic condition is deteriorating and is unable to hold down food and has lost fifty pounds. He needs a rigorous medication course to treat his ailment.

We are requesting your funds as well as new clothing for three boys’ ages 15, 10, and 7 and a girl age 13. Let’s not forget mother either. I cannot imagine the despair that runs through their minds at night when his illness and coughing in the night wakes up the family in this two room apartment. Needless to say, the family has back bills and that is why HWIP is requesting clothing and your financial donation to make one family’s tough life a little brighter.
